OVERSEAS PLAYER COMMITS FOR 2013

The club is pleased to announce that Lachlan Mason has become the second Australian to commit to the club for the 2013 season meaning that the CLL overseas player allowance is now complete. Lachie plays for Mulgrave Cricket Club in Victoria and was Steven Philip Cheethamrecommended by Alex Davies who was an earlier target for the club before being awarded a Lancashire County contract. Alex is also playing at Mulgrave during the British winter, but CLL rules do not permit contracted players to be professionals in the league. Lachie will join forces with Aussie pro Cameron Murray who signed up before Christmas.

Another piece of good news is the signing up of Steven Cheetham. The 25 year old, 6’5” former Surrey opening bowler has commitments with Yorkshire 2nd XI and with the “Unicorns” pro40 team, but has agreed to play for Clifton whenever he is available, which should be most of the season.

INDOOR PRACTICE ON THE HORIZON

WOOD CUP TRIP TO OLDHAM

The CLL fixtures are once again last to be released with all the other leagues already planning for the season, but the Wood Cup and Burton Cup draws have been made with 6 of the 8 ties pairing sides from different divisions of the new league set up. The firsts go to Oldham and if successful, will play Werneth or Rochdale in round 2 with the 2nd XI fixture reversed. The only all top-division tie is Norden v Littleborough.
