Despite another top drawer showing from young Owen, who's
top score with the bat, two wickets and two catches were once again backed up
with another of those inch perfect run outs that the batsman simply gave up on,
the rest of the side capitulated inside 37 overs.
It had all started so well too as, despite losing stand-in
opener Anuj, the first eight overs produced 47 runs. In stark contrast, the
next nine overs produced nine runs and saw four wickets fall in a match
defining forty minutes of mayhem. A partnership of 54 between Owen and Oscar
(22) rescued the situation, but the tail fell away with Owen's 36 being the
stand out in a paltry total on 130.
The reply also started well with two wickets falling for
five, but a partnership of 59 took the score to 86 before a clutch of wickets
left the visitors on 102-7. A couple of double figure stands had the assembled
audience contemplating another tie, but the 8th wicket pair batted extremely
sensibly, picking off ones and hitting a couple of bad balls for boundaries,
seeing their side home with two wickets and eight overs to spare.
